surviving Death Valley

We made a stop as we left Yosemite, and climbed the Lembert Dome (it is a granite rock formation 240m high).  It was a brilliant hike, and though the girls were complaining the first three quarters of the way (they wanted to attack the steep rock straight away rather than take the winding trail around it), they were very pleased that they did it.

Its a place of extreme temperatures, and at this time of the year, extremely hot.  So we woke up at 4.45 am to make the drive to Death Valley through to Las Vegas.  Sunrise at the Death Valley is stunning.

The Death Valley Golf Resort, with trees!

34C and it was 730 in the morning!

The first sand dunes we saw.

A desert, but still beautiful.

The desert road leads us to Las Vegas...
